Vasco Neves, born in Covilhã, Portugal, in 1980, started his career as a studio assistant photographer when he was only 18 years old. Later, he decided to study at the Portuguese Institute of Photography, in Lisbon, and has since continued to work as a photographer.
In 2005, he joined the Público newspaper as an intern and between then and 2017 also worked for Diário de Notícias, Jornal de Notícias, 24 Horas, Notícias Magazine, Volta ao Mundo and finally Correio da Manhã as a photojournalist and editor. His dedication to photojournalism is particularly focused on social issues.
In 2008, he won 1st place at the BES/Visão Photojournalism Awards in the Portrait Category. Nowadays he works as an independent photographer.
